Leaky Basement 2011

This project presented as a leaking basement into a residential new extension. The walls were concrete block with an exposed podium slab roof cover to be used as an external deck. In this situation it was impractical to excavate from the outside fully down to foundation level. We found little to no attempt at waterproofing of the external walls so we tackled this in two phases. One to mitigate external water to the outside walls as much as practicable and to then treat the internal walls with a specialised cement based material capable of holding back a large amount of Hydrostatic pressure.

Saturated wall prior to internal treatment, note "reglet" cut at wall/ floor junction for special treatment

Treatment begins with application of specialised cement coating under AWC guidance.

Dry basement completed ready for decoration by owner. Note some treatments require time to become fully effective.
